Three Tips for Minimising Risk in your Practice

Hso Corona 03 600x403The world we live in is changing rapidly and so will the way you run and manage your dental practice.

In addition to stricter screening protocols and infection control procedures, below are some additional tips to help you during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic that will help keep your patients and staff safe.

Tip #1. Practice social distancing

Given recent social distancing guidelines, you may wish to adopt these principles in your waiting room by increasing the space between chairs and patients lining up at your reception.

Placing signage on seats and at reception that say “PLEASE KEEP 1.5 METRES DISTANCE WHERE POSSIBLE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION” will also assist with social distancing and reducing risk.

Tip #2.  Promote good hand hygiene within your practice

Request staff and patients (if practical) to wash their hands with soap for at least 20 seconds prior AND upon arrival to your practice.

In addition, place hand sanitiser for patients to use at your reception and in waiting room areas.

Tip #3. Introduce contactless interactions

A contactless interaction is when there is no physical contact required between a patient, practice staff and equipment.

Consider contactless interactions, such as sending pre-appointment forms to patients to complete at home, and automating this process, which is now possible with Patient Experience.
